Acne vulgaris is a common problem, not only for teenagers, but many adults also suffer from hard to control acne.

In the treatment of acne vulgaris, 417 nanometer (nm) blue light (BLU-U® Acne Vulgaris Treatment) activates porphyrins (light sensitizers) within the P. acnes bacteria, creating an environment that the bacteria can not survive in.

The BLU-U® Acne Vulgaris Treatment emits safe, cool, visible blue light – not a laser. It offers safe, effective, non-invasive and pain-free treatment for moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris, The treatment is suitable for adults, teens and children suffering from acne and looking for an alternative to drugs or antibiotics or an adjunct to skin care programs

Treatments are straightforward – you simply sit with your face close to the light for a short time, approximately a 15-minute session about once or twice per week. Often a solution (Levulan) will be applied to your skin prior to the blue light treatment to make sessions more effective. The treatments may go on for five weeks or so. After some weeks, the blue light can help control your acne.
